Hyung WJ, et al. - Researchers performed this single-arm, prospective, multicenter study to assess the utility of laparoscopic total gastrectomy (LTG) for clinical stage I gastric cancer. Study participants included 170 patients with pathologically proven, clinical stage I gastric adenocarcinoma located at the proximal stomach and 22 experienced surgeons from 19 institutions. According to findings, for patients with clinical stage I gastric cancer, LTG performed by experienced surgeons resulted in acceptable postoperative morbidity and mortality.
