A discrete choice study of patient preferences for dialysis modalities

Walker RC, et al. - The goal of the study depicted in this paper was to measure the characteristics of dialysis care and the tradeoffs that patients consider when making decisions about dialysis modalities. The current study showed that the patients preferred home dialysis over facility-based care when increased nursing support was available and when longer survival, wellbeing, and flexibility were expected. Sociodemographics, such as age, ethnicity, and income, impacted the patient choice.
