A diabetes-related dietary pattern is associated with incident diabetes in obese men in the Korean Genome Epidemiology Study
The Journal of Nutrition Feb 07, 2019
Lee HA, et al. – In this study, researchers examined data from 7,255 subjects aged 40–69 years from the Korean Genome Epidemiology Study to analyze the association of dietary patterns with clinical indicators of diabetes. They evaluated the dietary patterns by the reduced rank regression method using glycated hemoglobin, the homeostasis model of insulin resistance, and fasting glucose concentrations as dependent variables. They observed that dietary pattern related to select biomarkers of diabetes was identified by a relatively high intake of kimchi, beef, other meat, fish, and coffee in males, and a high intake of rice, kimchi, and fruit in females. This association was significant among obese males.
