A cross sectional survey on health-related quality of life among parents of children with allergic symptoms using the EQ-5D-5L
Journal of Asthma Oct 16, 2019
Hwang TY, et al. - Researchers employed the EQ-5D-5L to parents of children with allergic diseases in order to assess their HRQOL. The sample population consisting of parents of children registered in primary schools and daycare centers was analyzed using self-administered EQ-5D-5L, to obtain demographic and health data of their children. Based on the prevalence of allergic symptoms in their children in the past 12 months, the difference in the EQ-5D-5L index and EQ-VAS of parents was evaluated. Overall 22,904 of the 23,837 completed questionnaires were examined. Lower HRQOL was displayed by parents of children with allergic symptoms vs those parents whose children did not. The utility of the EQ-5D-5L instrument in assessing the HRQOL of parents of children with allergic diseases was suggested.
