A cross sectional survey on health-related quality of life among parents of children with allergic symptoms using the EQ-5D-5L
Journal of Asthma Oct 19, 2019
Hwang TY, et al. - Using the EQ-5D-5L, researchers assessed the HRQOL of parents of children with allergic diseases. Participants in the study were parents of children registered in primary schools and daycare centers. Based on the prevalence of allergic symptoms in their children in the past 12 months, the difference in the EQ-5D-5L index and EQ-VAS of parents was evaluated. Overall 22,904 of the 23,837 completed questionnaires were analyzed. The HRQOL of parents of children with asthmatic symptoms was lowest at 0.936 on the EQ-5D-5L index and 79.3 on the EQ-VAS score among three allergic symptoms (wheezing, runny or blocked nose, and itchy rash). According to findings, lower HRQOL was exhibited by parents of children with allergic symptoms vs those parents whose children did not. To test the HRQOL of parents of children with allergic diseases, the EQ-5D-5L instrument seemed useful.
