A cost effectiveness analysis of maintenance cognitive stimulation therapy (MCST) for people with dementia: Examining the influence of cognitive ability and living arrangements
Aging and Mental Health May 05, 2019
Brown H, et al. - Researchers investigated the impact of living arrangement and cognitive ability of the person with dementia on the cost-effectiveness of Maintenance Cognitive Simulation Therapy (MCST). Further, they performed a value of information analysis to inform decisions about future research. Data from a multicenter RCT of MCST vs treatment as usual in a population that had already received 7 weeks of CST for dementia was used in this incremental cost-effectiveness analysis. As per preliminary results, for people with dementia who live alone and/or who have higher cognition, MCST might be cost-effective vs standard treatment. For conducting further RCT for this population subgroup, the investigators suggested including a total sample of 48 complete cases for both sub-groups for a two-arm trial.
