A controlled pilot trial of PainTracker Self-Manager, a web-based platform combined with patient coaching, to support patients' self-management of chronic pain
The Journal of Pain Apr 05, 2018
Sullivan M, et al. - Researchers aimed to develop and pilot test a web-based patient empowerment platform that combined Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-based educational modules and tailored coaching sessions with longitudinal tracking of treatments and patient-reported outcomes, called PainTracker Self-Manager (PTSM). The intervention improved patients' confidence in chronic pain self-management and patients' satisfaction with pain treatment. The intervention also improved activity engagement and pain in study completers. Observations thereby provide preliminary support for its efficacy in improving pain self-efficacy, activity engagement, pain intensity and interference, and satisfaction with pain treatment.
