A comprehensive report of long-term outcomes after catheter-directed thrombolysis for occluded infrainguinal bypass grafts
Journal of Vascular Surgery Mar 29, 2019
Vanheer R, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective analysis of a cohort of patients treated with catheter-directed urokinase-based thrombolysis for occluded infrainguinal bypass grafts to determine the technical and short- and long-term clinical outcomes of catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) with urokinase for occluded infrainguinal bypass grafts. Further, they sought for factors associated with technical success and amputation-free survival. One hundred seventy-seven patients underwent 251 CDTs on 204 bypasses. In 62% of procedures, they noted clinical success after CDT with an associated complication rate of 36%. Factors associated with long-term limb salvage comprised patent outflow vessels before and after CDT. They noted amputation-free survival of 71.3% after 5 years.
