A comparison of two endoscopic posterior cordotomy techniques: Laser cordotomy vs diathermy assisted cordotomy

Ozturk K, et al. – The efficacy of laser cordotomy was compared with diathermy assisted posterior cordotomy in terms of respiratory function, swallowing and voice quality in patients with bilateral abductor vocal fold paralysis (BAVFP). Results revealed that laser and diathermy assisted posterior cordotomy were both minimally invasive and effective techniques with a long–term sufficient laryngeal airway. Despite lower quality of voice VAS scores, objective acoustic outcomes were not significantly lower in both of the groups.
