A comparison of sexual side effects of antidepressants with and without naltrexone
Journal of Dual Diagnosis Oct 11, 2017
Thapa M, et al. - The authors compared the rate of sexual side effects of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor paroxetine vs. the tricyclic antidepressant desipramine. Furthermore, they aimed to examine the effect of co-prescription of naltrexone on sexual side effects. This study was the first to compare the frequency of sexual side effect reporting between paroxetine and desipramine. No statistically significant differences were found in sexual side effect reporting between the two antidepressants. Moreover, the addition of naltrexone did not reveal any beneficial effect on the sexual side effect profile.
