Journal of Glaucoma Jan 10, 2018
Theventhiran A, et al. - The experts undertook this study to compare the required supplemental anesthesia and postoperative patient pain score in individuals undergoing glaucoma surgery under topical anesthesia (TA) vs retrobulbar anesthesia (RB). In the topical group, supplemental anesthesia and pain scores were statistically increased. However, the prevalence and the severity of pain was low. Thus, for glaucoma surgery, TA was feasible and a reasonable option. This conclusion would be applicable when glaucoma surgery was performed alone or in combination with the other eye surgery.
