A comparison between the Disposcope endoscope and fibreoptic bronchoscope for nasotracheal intubation: A randomized controlled trial
BMC Anesthesiology Aug 30, 2019
Yu J, et al. - Researchers sought to assess if Disposcope endoscopy or fibreoptic bronchoscopy guidance may help in simplifying nasotracheal intubation (NTI) process. They randomly assigned 60 patients (30 per group) requiring NTI to undergo fibreoptic bronchoscopy-guided (fibreoptic group) or Disposcope endoscope-guided (Disposcope group) NTI. Successful completion of NTI was performed using either fibreoptic bronchoscopy or Disposcope endoscope as a guide without any severe complications. However, less execution time (the NTI time) was required in correlation with Disposcope endoscope vs fibreoptic bronchoscopy.
