A comparative study of point-of-care prothrombin time in cardiopulmonary bypass surgery
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia Feb 14, 2018
Okabayashi S, et al. - This study entailed comparison of the sensitivities of a new point-of-care (POC) prothrombin time test, a dry-hematology method with heparin neutralization technology (DRIHEMATO PT-S [DRI PT-S]; A&T Corporation, Kanagawa, Japan) and other POC tests currently available. Prothrombin time/international normalized ratio (PT/INR) could be accurately assessed using the dry-hematology method in whole blood (WB) under therapeutic heparin levels. Notably, currently available other POC PT/INR tests were not recommended for coagulation monitoring during cardiopulmonary bypass as these were found to be affected by heparin.
