A clinico-radiological study of cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation
Cerebrovascular Diseases Sep 30, 2019
Coulette S, Renard D, Lehmann S, et al. - In patients with cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation (CAA-ri), researchers characterized the clinico-radiological characteristics and long-term prognosis. They retrospectively selected 28 CAA-ri patients (mean age was 72 years) from six neurological centers. Investigators found that five patients had pathologically confirmed CAA-ri, while 23 patients had probable or possible CAA-ri. Findings revealed that 29% died and 25% had a marked disability after a mean follow-up of 2 years. CAA-ri is characterized by a poor prognosis despite an apparently favorable initial evolution. Patients with isolated leptomeningeal involvement should be considered for diagnostic criteria.
