A clinical comparative study of two different endometrial cell samplers for evaluation of endometrial lesions by cytopathological diagnosis
Cancer Management and Research Oct 28, 2020
Lv S, Wang Q, Li Y, et al. - In view of the increasing acceptance of cytopathology detecting for endometrial cancer, and the most wide use of Tao Brush as sampler for endometrial cells, researchers sought to compare Li brushes and Tao brushes regarding their effectiveness for the diagnosis of endometrial lesions and determine the diagnostic accuracy of endometrial cytology compared with histology. Among 109 patients requiring dilation and curettage (D&C) and 21 patients requiring hysterectomies from November 2017 to April 2018. Observations suggest Endometrial cytology to be a reliable strategy for evaluation of endometrium with a lower insufficient sample rate. The Li brushes, as well as Tao brushes, as cytology sampler exhibited a high accuracy with histological diagnosis in identifying endometrial cancer and atypical hyperplasia. The Li brush appeared to be a better endometrial cell collector when social and economic benefits were combined.
