2-Deoxy-2-[fluorine-18] fluoro-d-glucose uptake on positron emission tomography is associated with programmed death ligand-1 expression in patients with pulmonary adenocarcinoma
European Journal of Cancer Aug 23, 2018
Kaira K, et al. - Experts evaluated if the uptake of 2-Deoxy-2-[fluorine-18] fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG) within cancer cells was linked to the expression of programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1), a predictor of anti–PD-1 antibody. A significant association of the expression of PD-L1 with SUVmax was seen in patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation, while PD-L1 was a significant negative predictive factor in those with wild-type EGFR, according to the EGFR mutation status. Findings suggested a significant association of 18F-FDG uptake with PD-L1 expression, and in patients with pulmonary AC, the latter was closely linked to the presence of glucose metabolism and hypoxia.
