Laparoscopic lateral suspension with mesh for apical and anterior pelvic organ prolapse: A prospective double center study
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Nov 05, 2019
Mereu L, Tateo S, D’Alterio MN, et al. - Long-term outcomes and complications following laparoscopic lateral suspension (LLS) with mesh to treat apical and anterior Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) were determined via prospectively studying 120 patients with vaginal bulge and apical +/- anterior prolapse who underwent LLS between April 2013 and January 2017 in Gynecologic Department of Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento and University of Pisa. At 2 years, 89% of patients were asymptomatic; the anatomic success rate of 94.2% was reported for the anterior compartment and 94.9% for the apical compartment. Findings suggest that in terms of safety and effectiveness, optimal results at 2-year follow-up were achieved on treating apical and anterior POP with LLS.
