A scoping review for strategies to increase living kidney donation

Barnieh L et al. – This scoping review identified the evidence for existing strategies to increase the number of potential living kidney donors. An important gap in the literature was identified for evidence–based strategies to increase living kidney donation. Promising strategies include identifying potential recipients and their social networks. Transplant programs that are considering strategies to increase living kidney donation uses these results and highlight the need for conduct of high–quality study to increase living donation.

- A scoping review was performed.
- Evidence of existing strategies were summarized.
Results
- Seven studies that tested interventions were identified.
- Studies included rigorous methods (i.e., randomized, controlled trials) and outcome measures focusing on educating potential recipients to increase living donation.
